WENDY CARLISLE

Alexander Calder's Kitchen

gives away a thousand words

in favor of delicate

descriptions in wood & wire,

makes the breeze visible, re-

invents the everyday in

sheet metal & brass: woodstove,

teapot, conical strainer hung

from its spout, red coffee mill,

the potholder, a cotton sculpture,

4 coffee pots, 3 pitchers,

needle nose pliers

a deconstructed toaster

the knife shining like a sword.

after Calder's "Kitchen"
