This Space For Rent

One day I might wake up dead
And in the confusion surrounding
Such an exact state of affairs,

Inquire within the release.
I wish to be apparent to myself
And not be flushed with self

Indulgent swagger when I see
The angels rush to meet me.
I might resist the temptation

To control, to grab ahold
In the estrangement of being empty
Or in the fullness of being still.

Oh how attractive the image
Of myself becomes, and grows
When presence is left unattended.

One day I might wake up dead
And in the confusion surrounding
Such an exact state of affairs…
