Wide Time

for Jayme and Jack

As gravity twists light and bends
The plastic void of Einstein's space
And speed shrinks rods and slows blind hands
That drag across time's painted face,

As fractals weave a filigree
Of paisleys as new iterations
Repeat in finer detail the
Same feathery articulations,

So we with laughter, poems, wit,
Wove such rich patterns, time, like space,
Grew vaster and more intricate
Than nebulae purled fine as lace.
