Scene 9

(Lights up on entire stage. Ann enters doing the times table starting from one, i.e., "one times one is one," and so forth. She does this throughout Sub Ann's monologue.)

SUB ANN: Sometimes it's like I've got ants in my brain.  Eating away at me. Busy little ants.  A whole colony of fears and worries attacking from all sides I don't tell anybody.  I'm afraid I'll sound crazy … or cliché.  That's it, a cliché crazy person.  (Totally campy) Doctor, Doctor, ants are swarming my brain.  Help me get them out Doctor.  The ants! The ants! Aw, fuck it, I'm just bored.

(Black out)
